The casket containing the general’s body arrived at Entebbe International Airport from Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE) aboard Fly Emirates airline at exactly 1:30 pm.
The 56-year-old former Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) passed away suddenly last Saturday on his way back to Uganda from South Korea.
There will be a military ceremony to receive the body and the top army generals will salute the deceased.
Among the people who received the body are Gen Aronda’s relatives and high ranking army officers like Gen Elly Tumwine, Gen Ivan Koreta, Commissioner General Uganda Prisons Johnson Byabashaija.
It will later be taken to Mulago Hospital for treatment and on Thursday, it will lie in State at Parliament for fellow legislators to pay tribute to the army representative who died aboard a flight from South Korea to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, last Saturday morning.
Meanwhile, Cabinet has acknowledged and saluted the significant contribution made by Gen. Aronda to the country’s stability and the unity of the people of Uganda.
This was during a special meeting Cabinet held Tuesday specifically to pay tribute to the army general.
According to a statement issued from the Office of the Prime Minister, Cabinet also received a briefing from the task force led by defence minister, Dr. Crispus Kiyonga which is charged with the burial arrangements for Aronda.
